There are many ways to volunteer at the Heisey House Museum.  With volunteers, we are able to maintain a strong presence in the community through our programs and services, as well as collect and preserve artifacts.

Commitments can be for a specific project, such as planning a fundraising event, conducting tours at the museum, or conducting research; see our list below.  Some of our volunteers come weekly, bi-monthly or on a monthly basis; others only come for special programs or projects.  We’re happy to have you!

How You Can Volunteer

1. Research
Using our resources and those of the Ross Library we field questions from phone, Internet and in person.

2. Tour Guide
We have a “script” to help learn about our collection when school groups visit.

3. Planning and Organizing Events
We strive to highlight different items in our collection on a monthly basis.  These volunteers help with the planning and display.

4. Cleaning
We have volunteers to help with dusting, vacuuming, washing. (Yea!!)

5. Gardens
We have a small vegetable garden and “wildflower” meadow, in addition to our Herb Garden.  Volunteers help plan and maintain these gardens.

6. Fundraising
We plan approximately 6 large fundraisers a year.  These include a house tour, garden/kitchen tour, yard sale, barn dance, and wine festival, plus several  smaller ones.  Volunteers help with planning and arrangements.
